BIO
With 20 years of private and public sector energy and environmental experience, Michael lead strategy and business development of Global Green Solutions’ waste-biomass combustion and algae-biomass production technology businesses. In this role, he is managed relationships between Global Green Solutions and their customers, strategic partners, and investors. Being based in New York, he was also the company’s point man on financing issues at both the project and corporate level.
In addition, he has provided business strategy consultation to several early-stage Cleantech companies in the areas of Renewable Energy (power and fuels), Energy Management, Green Buildings, Carbon Capture, and Sustainability. He served as both a technical and financial reviewer for US Dept of Energy stimulus-related funding, as well as advising a leading financial services firm on their published analysis of international climate-focused policies and opportunities.
Michael held corporate roles at Pitney Bowes for several years, first as their Energy and Environmental manager, and later as their manager for Futures Strategy. He was a founding partner of the Green Power Market Development Group, a collaboration of twelve leading corporations and the World Resources Institute dedicated to building corporate markets for green power. He began his career with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency remediating hazardous waste sites, and later managing international environmental assistance programs for Central and Eastern Europe.
Michael possesses an understanding of the relationship between finance, energy and the environment from both a technical and business perspective. In addition, he has a background in water, agriculture, waste management and remediation. He holds a BS in Agricultural and Biological Engineering and a MS in Environmental Engineering from Cornell University, as well as an MBA from the University of Connecticut. Michael is a licensed professional engineer (PE), certified energy manager (CEM), and in the process of obtaining LEED accreditation.
