A newcomer to the Houston hotel scene intends to offer its guests the scale of a boutique property with the service of a five-star brand.
Denver-based Two Roads Hospitality announced plans this week to open a Thompson Houston hotel along Allen Parkway about halfway between downtown and River Oaks. The proposed project, on a 6-acre site next to the Federal Reserve Bank building and across from Buffalo Bayou Park, is envisioned as a mixed-use development that would include the hotel along with residences, shops and offices. It is still in the planning stages and at least two years from opening.
The hotel is one of three that Two Roads is planning in Texas. Dallas and San Antonio properties are also in the works.
"The visitor population is booming," Two Roads' CEO Niki Leondakis said. "There's just a renewed excitement about Texas."
